Baseball Game Preview: Male Bulldogs vs. Ballard Bruins

Male has gone 8-1 against Ballard recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will host the Bruins at 5:30 p.m.

Jeffersonville hit Male with a seven-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 7-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Red Devils: they've now lost three in a row.

West Bickett was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Male is 2-1 when Bickett posts two or more runs, but 10-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cameron Levey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Ballard strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Mercer County get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. Give the Bruins' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's sixth straight shutout.

Ballard's victory was their 19th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Male, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Male came out on top in a nail-biter against Ballard in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
