The Mansfield Tigers will challenge the Lake Ridge Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mansfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Lake Ridge likes a good challenge.
Mansfield took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Boswell 31-12. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The critical scores for Mansfield came from Zion Robinson, Cole Williams, Andrew McKinney, and Kenley Woods.
Meanwhile, Lake Ridge played a tough game last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 55-28 defeat at the hands of North Forney. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Falcons are ranked 41st).
Mansfield will have to keep a close watch on DeShawn Edwards and Jaiden Cotton, a pair of players who had a big impact on Lake Ridge's prior game. Edwards rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while Cotton rushed for 121 yards and a pair of TDs. Edwards' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 142 rushing yards.
Mansfield's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lake Ridge, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Mansfield has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 369.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Lake Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 443.2 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Everything came up roses for Mansfield against Lake Ridge in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-14 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Edwards, who rushed for 101 yards and one score on only 13 carries, and also threw for 205 yards and one TD.
