Baseball Game Preview: Rantoul Eagles vs. Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers

The Rantoul Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Rantoul is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Illinois Valley Central just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 7-2 to the Grey Ghosts.

Rantoul saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Cheek, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Paxton-Buckley-Loda started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Armstrong. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday.

Bryar Cosgrove made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Tyler Cole, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Rantoul's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they dropped their record down to 11-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Rantoul suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Paxton-Buckley-Loda when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
