Baseball Game Preview: Hill Falcons vs. Oak Grove Eagles

Hill hasn't had much luck against Oak Grove recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Hill Falcons duke it out with Oak Grove Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Hill's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Oak Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Hill needed a bit of extra time to put away Oak Grove. They had just enough and edged out the Eagles 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since March 13, 2024.

Miguel Guerrero made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Guerrero was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on AJ Meraz, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They got six more hits than Oak Grove's also-impressive total of 11.

The victory made it two in a row for Hill and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Oak Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
