Baseball Recap: Ringgold Comes Up Short

Ringgold dropped their record down to 7-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Mt. Pleasant Vikings by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

Ringgold got a good showing from Anthony Koziel, who didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Koziel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ringgold saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skyler Mucci, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Mt. Pleasant, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Mt. Pleasant's side, Carter Strayer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Cole Chatfield, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Ringgold will square off against Greensburg Salem at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will take on Connellsville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
