Softball Game Preview: Sabine Cardinals vs. Arp Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Sabine Cardinals challenge Arp Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sabine has struggled recently with 11 defeats in a row, while Arp will arrive with four straight victories.

Things were looking good for Sabine after they put the first points on the board last Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 17-1 to White Oak.

Meanwhile, Arp got the win against White Oak on Friday by a conclusive 17-3. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by nine runs or more this season.

Maddie Birdsong was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaitlynn Raymond was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Arp was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Arp's win was their 12th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sabine, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
