Volleyball Game Preview: Fremont Firebirds vs. Gunn Titans

Fremont has gone a perfect 5-0 against Gunn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Firebirds will challenge the Titans at 6:45 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Fremont is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since March 15th last Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Balboa.

Nathan Nguyen was the offensive standout of the game as he had 20 assists and seven digs. Those seven digs gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Gunn sidestepped Saratoga for a 3-2 win.

Gunn had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20, 16-14.

Fremont's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Gunn, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.

Everything went Fremont's way against Gunn in their previous meeting on April 4th, as Fremont made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
