Baseball Recap: Lockport Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Lincoln-Way West

Lockport faced Lincoln-Way West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Porters walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Warriors. That's two games straight that the Porters have won by exactly four runs.

Anthony Farina tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, Nick Moerman and Bryce Flood did most of the damage at the plate: Moerman went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Flood went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Flood has posted over his last ten contests.

Lockport pushed their record up to 18-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln-Way West, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-7.
