Softball Game Preview: Batesburg-Leesville Panthers vs. Ninety Six Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Batesburg-Leesville Panthers take on Ninety Six Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Batesburg-Leesville has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Batesburg-Leesville's offense. They came up short against Strom Thurmond on Thursday, falling 12-0. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Rebels recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Batesburg-Leesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kate Shealy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Meanwhile, Ninety Six got themselves on the board against Ware Shoals on Wednesday, but Ware Shoals never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 19-0 victory. The game marked the Wildcats' most dominant win of the season so far.

The victory made it two in a row for Ninety Six and bumps their season record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Batesburg-Leesville, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1-1.
