Football Recap: Coastal Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Coastal Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the Vincent Memorial Scots 21-7.

Coastal Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zac Garland out in front who threw for 204 yards and one touchdown on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 32 yards and one TD. That's the most passing yards Garland has posted since back in November of 2024. Asher Benner was another key pass catcher, picking up 99 receiving yards and one score.

Coastal Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Benner and Cody Terpstra.

Coastal Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Vincent Memorial, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coastal Academy and Vincent Memorial will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Stingrays are set to square off against their familiar foe Orange Glen at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. Meanwhile, Vincent Memorial will take on rival Palo Verde Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
