Baseball Recap: Wyalusing Valley Rams vs. Towanda Black Knights
Wyalusing Valley took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (barely). They won by a run and slipped past the Towanda Black Knights 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wyalusing Valley also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.
Trehnon Hugo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Hugo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Hugo wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kenny Mapes, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Wyalusing Valley will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Troy at 4:30 p.m. Wyalusing Valley and Troy are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Towanda, they will head out on the road to challenge Mansfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Towanda is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
