League recap: North Mesquite scores huge upset over Lee

The biggest upset of the week belonged to North Mesquite, who took down 284th ranked Lee, 27-7.

The Stallions moved up to 390 from 510 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 12. North Mesquite climbed the ranks as a result of a 27-7 win over the Raiders.

Rockwall-Heath's dynamic duo of Chase Schultz and Shyon Motlagh proved tough for Mesquite to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Schultz threw for 305 yards and one touchdown and Motlagh had 130 yards receiving. RJ Williams helped Rockwall-Heath's passing attack out by catching 11 balls for 125 yards.

Treyvon Marsh was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 243 yards on 23 carries as Horn lost to the Skeeters. Teammate Destri White added to the ground attack by rushing for 62 yards.

Mesquite's Alex Cooper and Rashard Higgins have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cooper has thrown for 1635 yards this season, while Higgins has 36 catches for 658 yards. Marsh from the Jaguars leads the league in rushing with 716 yards.

Two of the top units in 5A Region II District 12 will face off this week when Horn takes on Robbie Robinson's team. Rodney Webb's team's offense has racked up 237 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Skeeters have allowed only 99 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mesquite takes on the Jaguars. The Skeeters are in first place, while Horn is in third place.

There should be lots of points scored when Mesquite and the Jaguars face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Skeeters comes in having scored 215 this season, while Horn has scored 237. Mesquite scored 35 points last week as it topped Rockwall-Heath.

The Skeeters extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mickey Moss' team, 35-14. The win marks sixth in a row for the Mesquite.
