Baseball Recap: Newman Smith Takes a Loss

Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Boswell Pioneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 9-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2021.

Newman Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 8-19-2. As for Boswell, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 25-3.

Newman Smith does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Boswell, they will square off against Lake Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pioneers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
