Basketball Game Preview: Edgewood Cougars vs. Bellbrook Golden Eagles

The Edgewood Cougars and the Bellbrook Golden Eagles will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Edgewood lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Mt. Healthy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Cougars claimed a resounding 70-39 win over the Fighting Owls. The Cougars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Bellbrook won against Franklin on Friday with 60 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles enjoyed a cozy 60-46 victory over Beavercreek. The game was the first time the Golden Eagles have beaten the Beavers on their court since December 3, 2019.

Edgewood pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points over those games. As for Bellbrook, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Edgewood beat Bellbrook 63-50 in their previous matchup back in January. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
