Baseball Game Preview: New Waverly Bulldogs vs. Brazos Cougars

For the second straight game, New Waverly will face off against Brazos. The Bulldogs will challenge the Cougars at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

New Waverly heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Friday. They fell just short of Brazos by a score of 6-5. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For Brazos' part, they let Gunner Grigar and Chase Kuhn run wild. Grigar went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Kuhn went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Brazos is 8-2 when Grigar posts two or more runs, but 6-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Polasek, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Brazos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

New Waverly now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Brazos, they moved to 14-15 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.
