Basketball Recap: Etaliah Laboo Key Part of a Team Effort in Hurricanes Win

On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the East Hamilton Hurricanes beat the Navarre Raiders 34-29.

East Hamilton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Etaliah Laboo led the charge by putting up 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Calhoun, who posted nine points.

Navarre's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaleah Jones, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 44.8% of Navarre's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

East Hamilton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.6 points per game. As for Navarre, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

East Hamilton will take on Sale Creek in a tournament on Wednesday. As for Navarre, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-33 win against Escambia on the 17th.
