Basketball Recap: Clyde's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Clyde entered their tilt with Merkel on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Merkel Badgers 53-36. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 59-55 back in December of 2024.

Leading Clyde to victory were Madeline Underwood and Gracie Caperton. Underwood dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Caperton posted 22 points along with six assists and six boards. Underwood is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 16 games she's played. Morgan Mauldin was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Clyde smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Clyde's win bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Merkel, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-15.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Wall the next time they take the court. Merkel will host Wall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Clyde will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
