Softball Recap: Squalicum Comes Up Short

Squalicum was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Ferndale Golden Eagles, falling 24-6. That's two games in a row now that the Storm have lost by exactly 18 runs.

Laela Staniford was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Staniford is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Blakely Miller also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Squalicum's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ferndale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Squalicum will head out to face off against Meridian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ferndale, they will be playing at home against Friday Harbor at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ferndale is facing Friday Harbor at the right time seeing as Friday Harbor is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
