Basketball Recap: Thunder Basin Falls Short Against Ranked Laramie

On Saturday, Thunder Basin faced Laramie in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Thunder Basin Bolts fell just short of the Laramie Plainsmen by a score of 61-59. The Bolts' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Laramie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Max Alexander led the charge by going 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Alexander has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaden Smith, who went 6 of 8 en route to 19 points.

Thunder Basin's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Laramie, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thunder Basin will take on Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Laramie, they will challenge Campbell County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Campbell County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.
