Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Vernon). They secured a 48-42 W over the Eustace Bulldogs on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Dawson Witherspoon had a dynamite game for Mount Vernon, rushing for 234 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 33 receiving yards and a touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Witherspoon has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Cade George, who threw for 315 yards and four touchdowns.

Mount Vernon wouldn't let Eustace keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Jayden Doss, Andres Diaz, and Landry Moss picked up one apiece. With that strong performance, Moss is now averaging an impressive 5.8 total tackles per game. Another thorn in Eustace's side was Will Tucker, who made 17 total tackles and defended a pass.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mount Vernon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 234 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Mount Vernon's record is now 2-5. As for Eustace, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.
