Preview: Kendrick Cherokees vs. Central Chargers
Kendrick has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Central Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Kendrick focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Kendrick suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Spencer 68-16. Kendrick was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-9.
Kendrick's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Anaila Whitaker, who scored eight points along with eight blocks and six rebounds, and Justina Vice who scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Central entered their tilt with Rutland with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Central took their matchup on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 67-20 victory over Rutland. Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Kendrick's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.8 points per game. As for Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Kendrick was taken down by Central 63-8 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Kendrick avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
