Baseball Recap: Foothill Wins Going Away Against Rosamond

Foothill lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Rosamond, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. Foothill was the clear victor by a 14-2 margin over Rosamond on Thursday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Levi Price was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. He has become a key player for Foothill: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ramon Diaz was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Conrado Machuca, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosamond only posted an OBP of .304.

Foothill is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Rosamond and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Looking ahead, Foothill will take on Mira Monte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Foothill is facing Mira Monte at the right time seeing as Mira Monte is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Rosamond, they will head out to take on Frazier Mountain at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Rosamond will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: Frazier Mountain will have lost three straight heading into Friday's game.
