Baseball Recap: Mingo Central's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Mingo Central took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Tug Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Miners skirted past the Panthers 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Miners have posted since April 8, 2024.

Dylan Vance was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Mingo Central: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 1-8 otherwise. Vance was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Newsome, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Coleman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mingo Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tug Valley only posted a batting average of .125.

Mingo Central's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9. As for Tug Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-9 record.

Looking ahead, Mingo Central will challenge Phelps at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tug Valley, they will take on WestSide at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
