Chittenango has gone 9-1 against Westhill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bears will venture away from home to challenge the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Chittenango will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
On Friday, Chittenango got the win against East Syracuse-Minoa by a conclusive 14-1. Considering the Bears have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lauren Machan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danica Oppenheimer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alivia Cavotta, who earned one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
Chittenango kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Westhill lost 9-1 to Chittenango on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost six in a row.
Chittenango's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Westhill, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Chittenango's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Westhill, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Chittenango continue to outrun the ball?
Chittenango took their victory against Westhill in their previous meeting on Thursday by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
