Basketball Game Preview: Omaha North Vikings vs. Columbus Discoverers

The Omaha North Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Columbus Discoverers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, Omaha North lost to Bellevue East at home by a 71-57 margin. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Chieftains are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Columbus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 33-24 to Lincoln Southeast.

Omaha North has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Columbus, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Omaha North came up short against Columbus in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 57-45. Can Omaha North avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
