Football Game Preview: Booker Tornadoes vs. Boca Ciega Pirates + How To Watch

The Booker Tornadoes are taking a road trip to square off against the Boca Ciega Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Booker is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Booker's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gibbs 42-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tornadoes' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Gladiators are ranked 262nd).

Booker got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joel Morris out in front who threw for 55 yards and a pair of TDs. Mike Peterson was in the mix too, providing the Tornadoes with two touchdowns.

Booker's run defense was locked in: Gibbs could only muster 2.6 yards per carry. While three picked up at least three total tackles, Kevontay Hugan stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks and made three total tackles. Booker's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.66 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.63 on average over their last five games.

Booker's defense didn't let Jordan Calvin, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Hugan was the leader with two. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last four times he's played. Jordan Booker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Boca Ciega came up short against Palm Harbor University on Friday and fell 14-3. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Boca Ciega's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Booker, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything came up roses for Booker against Boca Ciega when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-6 victory. In that game, the Tornadoes amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
