Basketball Game Preview: West Port Wolf Pack vs. Lake Weir Hurricanes

The West Port Wolf Pack and the Lake Weir Hurricanes will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. West Port is looking for their season's first win.

West Port is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell to East Ridge 73-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (66), the Wolf Pack still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake Weir, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They snuck past Yulee with a 65-60 victory on Thursday. While the Hurricanes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Lake Weir's win came from a few key players West Port will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alcarlos Richard, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. John Smith was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points.

Lake Weir smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Lake Weir has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for West Port, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
