Preview: Yuma Catholic Shamrocks vs. Northwest Christian Crusaders

Yuma Catholic and Northwest Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks will head out on the road to face off against the Northwest Christian Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Yuma Catholic is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.

Yuma Catholic put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Lake Havasu with a sharp 41-17 win. With Yuma Catholic ahead 33-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Yuma Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tayt Ford, who rushed for 129 yards on only 11 carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Ford is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Sir Stokes was in the mix too, providing Yuma Catholic with two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Northwest Christian's game on Friday was all tied up 10-10 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 27-20 to Thunderbird. It was the first time this season that Northwest Christian let down their fans at home.

Yuma Catholic's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-2 Thunderbird and 7-2 Arizona College Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.2% over those games). As for Northwest Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-1.

Yuma Catholic and Northwest Christian were almost perfectly matched up when the teams last played back in October of 2022, but Yuma Catholic suffered an agonizing 31-30 loss. Can Yuma Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
