Greenwood Christian came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Laurens Academy Crusaders with a sharp 15-6 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kade Heaton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Greenwood Christian: the team is 10-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jeb Booth was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cole Hamby, who earned one RBI and two runs.

Greenwood Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .526 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Greenwood Christian's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Laurens Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

As of now, neither Greenwood Christian nor the Crusaders have any future games scheduled.
