Basketball Recap: Mater Brickell Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Emanuel Caraballo and Sebastien Rodriguez

After flying high against Westland Hialeah on Tuesday, Mater Brickell Academy came back down to earth. The Bulls took a 65-46 bruising from the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs on Wednesday.

Mater Brickell Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Sebastien Rodriguez and Emanuel Caraballo. Rodriguez posted 19 points and three steals, while Caraballo went 5-for-12 to rack up 17 points. Rodriguez's big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cesar Lopez, who had no points and nine rebounds.

Leading Dr. Joaquin Garcia to victory were Jayden Noel and Demetrius Jackson. Noel scored 16 points and three steals, while Jackson shot 55% from the field en route to 12 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Jackson a new career-high. Tim Bowe was another key player, putting up five points.

Mater Brickell Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Mater Brickell Academy will head out to take on South Miami at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Palm Beach Gardens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
