The Academy hasn't had much luck against Forge Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wildcats will welcome the Fury at 3:00 p.m. The Academy has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The Academy fell victim to University and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 11-0. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Forge Christian entered their tilt with Valley on Friday with 12 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 13. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 6-2.
Forge Christian got a great performance from Jonathan Tipton as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Tipton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sullivan Strange and Jonah Boykin did most of the damage at the plate: Strange went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Boykin went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Boykin has posted over his last eight games.
Forge Christian pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for The Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. The Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Forge Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
The Academy might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Forge Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
