Softball Recap: Allen Park Snags 14th Victory in Last 15 Games

There's no place like home for Allen Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Crestwood Chargers a 16-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won 22 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Melody Filipiak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since May 1st.

In other batting news, Kiley Carr was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Tavulares, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Allen Park is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Crestwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Allen Park nor Crestwood have any future games scheduled.
