Volleyball Game Preview: Central Cobras vs. Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds

Central has gone a perfect 3-0 against Lincoln Park Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cobras will square off against the Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. Central will be strutting in after a win while Lincoln Park Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Central had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Westwood on Monday. The Cobras were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Panthers. The victory was familiar territory for the Cobras, who have now won three matches in a row.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Central was: they took every set by at least 17 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-6, 25-8.

Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikenzie Langen led the charge by getting five digs and three aces. Langen is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Yasmin Berres, who had eight digs and five assists.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Park Academy came up short against John Carroll Catholic on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-13, 25-10.

Lincoln Park Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Central, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Everything went Central's way against Lincoln Park Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2019, as Central made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cobras since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
