Rock Academy was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Orange Glen on Friday. The Warriors blew past the Patriots 42-7. Considering the Warriors have won three games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Rock Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Iman Oredi, who picked up 35 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground. Oredi also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up 1.5 sacks and making five total tackles (2.0 for loss). Quentin Uhland was in the mix too, providing Rock Academy with one TD.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Zayden Campbell, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Rock Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Oredi refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Rock Academy received some extra help from Uhland, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
When it comes to explaining why Orange Glen lost, don't look at Xadan Wilde. Despite the final result, he rushed for 163 yards and one score on only 13 carries. Wilde's longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Rock Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.0 points over those games. As for Orange Glen, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Looking ahead, Rock Academy will head out to face off against Kearny at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Orange Glen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Coastal Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Stingrays' defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so the Patriots' offense will have their work cut out for them.
