Baseball Recap: Prout Takes a Loss

Prout had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it four. They came up short against the Burrillville Broncos, falling 12-1. The Crusaders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Broncos from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Dylan Delgado was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Burrillville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4. The contest marked their most dominant win of the season.

On Burrillville's side, Adam DeCesare made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. DeCesare was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Burrillville let Jordan Furtado and AJ Escalera run wild. Furtado went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base, while Escalera went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Furtado is becoming a predictor of Burrillville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Prout is set to take on their familiar foe East Greenwich at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Burrillville will face off against rival St. Raphael Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
