Basketball Recap: Lutheran Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Lutheran won the last time they faced Palmer Ridge, and Isla Koffmann did her part to make sure it happened again. The Lutheran Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over the Palmer Ridge Bears on Friday thanks in part to Koffmann, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in steals (three).

Another player making a difference was Laila Purvis, who posted two points. She is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games she's played.

Palmer Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Steenland, who had 11 points. Corinna Arellano was another key player, putting up nine points.

Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Palmer Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Coming up, Lutheran will be playing at home against Discovery Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palmer Ridge, they will venture away from home to face off against Lewis-Palmer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
