Baseball Recap: Sherwood Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Sherwood won the last time they faced Forest Grove and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bowmen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Vikings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bowmen.

Alex Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Sherwood's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kolby Stevenson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Stevenson a new career-high.

Sherwood's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Forest Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Sherwood will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
