Edwin O. Smith is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Waterford, who was ranked sixth at the time (Edwin O. Smith was ranked 25th). The Panthers fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Olivia Lipps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rachael Morales was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Wethersfield got the win against East Hartford on Monday by a conclusive 17-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Edwin O. Smith moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Wethersfield, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
