Softball Game Preview: Rogers Eagles vs. Thrall Tigers

For the second straight game, Rogers will face off against Thrall. Rogers will host Thrall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rogers has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with six straight defeats, while Thrall will come in with three straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Rogers came up short against Thrall and fell 5-1.

For Thrall's part, Miley Pokorny spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the most strikeouts Pokorny has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Mikayla Velasquez was a standout: she scored a run and stole four bases while going 1-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Selena Quintanilla was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Thrall hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Thrall pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rogers, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
