Baseball Recap: Fuquay - Varina Takes a Loss

Fuquay - Varina blew Cardinal Gibbons out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Cardinal Gibbons got their revenge. Fuquay - Varina fell just short of Cardinal Gibbons by a score of 5-3. The Bengals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Fuquay - Varina now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Cardinal Gibbons, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fuquay - Varina will face off against Southeast Raleigh at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Raleigh has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.36 runs per game on average), something Fuquay - Varina will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they will challenge Leesville Road at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Gibbons' pitchers better be ready for this one: Leesville Road has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
