While Chavez's win against San Fernando wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Tigers on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Gabby Duran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 12 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Anaya was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Billingsley, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Chavez pushed their record up to 9-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for San Fernando, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Looking ahead, Chavez will take on Birmingham at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.67 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for San Fernando, they will challenge La Canada at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
