Basketball Recap: Monroe Central's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Monroe Central was riding high fresh off their 58-17 takedown of Cowan last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monroe Central Golden Bears lost to the Union County Patriots at home by a 52-37 margin on Saturday. It was the first time this season that the Golden Bears let down their fans at home.

When it comes to explaining why Monroe Central lost, don't look at Addy Puckett. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Puckett has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.

Monroe Central's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6. As for Union County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe Central will head out to face off against Delta at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Delta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season.
