Football Recap: Thalia Rios-Diaz and Serenity Gorham Secure Win for Pine Ridge

While Pine Ridge put up some points on Monday, the same can't be said for Seminole. The Panthers came out on top against the Seminoles by a score of 13-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Serenity Gorham and Thalia Rios-Diaz. Gorham rushed for 53 yards and one TD while Rios-Diaz picked up 13 receiving yards and one score. Those 53 rushing yards gave Gorham a new career-high.

Pine Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Greta Carlson and Kailey Dangleman, who each picked up one interception apiece.

Pine Ridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.0 points on average over those games. As for Seminole, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Ridge will venture away from home to challenge Spruce Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Seminole, they will head out to square off against Hagerty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies' defense has only allowed 10.1 points per game this season, so the Seminoles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
