Preview: Dublin Scioto Irish vs. Big Walnut Golden Eagles

The Dublin Scioto Irish's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Big Walnut Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Dublin Scioto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Dublin Scioto was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-44 to Hayes.

The losing side was boosted by Evan Rinker, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Callie Smoot, who scored two points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.

Dublin Scioto was without their leading scorer, Niah Smedley, in Tuesday's match. With Smedley sitting this one out, Elizabeth Williams got some extra time on the court (30 vs. her season average of 7.75).

Meanwhile, Big Walnut waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with 16 straight wins but they left with 17. They claimed a resounding 69-19 win over Westerville North at home. Big Walnut has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Dublin Scioto has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Big Walnut, their victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2.

Dublin Scioto took a serious blow against Big Walnut in their previous meeting back in January, falling 74-42. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dublin Scioto was down 51-20.
