Baseball Game Preview: Dowagiac Chieftains vs. Marcellus Wildcats

After both having extra time off, the Dowagiac Chieftains and the Marcellus Wildcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Dowagiac nor Marcellus posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Dowagiac is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since April 20, 2024 two weeks ago. They fell just short of Watervliet by a score of 2-0. The Chieftains haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Marcellus fell victim to Hackett Catholic Prep and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They came up short against the Fighting Irish, falling 12-0.

Dowagiac's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Marcellus, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Dowagiac couldn't quite get it done against Marcellus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Chieftains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
