Baseball Game Preview: Bassett Olympians vs. La Puente Warriors

After both having extra time off, the Bassett Olympians and the La Puente Warriors will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bassett's hitters haven't had much luck over their past eight contests, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Bassett's offense. They came up short against Ganesha last Thursday, falling 11-0.

Meanwhile, La Puente narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Workman 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Lobos: they've now won three in a row.

Manel Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, La Puente saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Duran, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Duran is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Bassett's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for La Puente, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Bassett suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to La Puente when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Olympians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
