Baseball Recap: West Mesa Takes a Loss

If West Mesa was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Del Norte last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 13-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

West Mesa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Armoni Baca, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

West Mesa has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. West Mesa is set to face off against their familiar foe Albuquerque at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Atrisco Heritage Academy will challenge rival Rio Grande at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
