Soccer Game Preview: Gridley vs. Pierce

The Gridley Bulldogs will challenge the Pierce Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Gridley's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Las Plumas with a sharp 3-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Las Plumas with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Giovanni Garcia, Eddie Rodriguez, and Jonathan Axume.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Pierce had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over West Valley on Tuesday. Considering the Bears' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Gridley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Pierce, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Gridley took their victory against Pierce in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 4-1. Will Gridley repeat their success, or does Pierce have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
