Basketball Recap: Salt Lake Academy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams on Friday, Salt Lake Academy came back down to earth. The Salt Lake Academy Griffins took a 36-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Waterford Ravens. The Griffins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ravens apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Salt Lake Academy lost on Saturday, don't look at Addison Patrick. Despite the final result, she posted 27 points. Patrick is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Waterford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anne Howard, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Howard a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Suzanne Reardon, who earned six points along with 22 boards and three steals.

Salt Lake Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-4. As for Waterford, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.

The future could be bright for both Salt Lake Academy and Waterford: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Salt Lake Academy will try to hand Freedom Prep Academy their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Waterford will try to hand Rowland Hall their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
