Basketball Recap: Cotulla Drops Highest Score of Season Against Pettus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cotulla). They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 101-67 win over the Pettus Eagles. The Cowboys didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Cotulla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rene Barrera, who dropped a triple-double with 23 points, 15 rebounds, and ten assists. Barrera is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamarkuz Ramirez, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 32 points and six assists.

Cotulla smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups.

Cotulla's record is now 5-10. As for Pettus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Cotulla and Uvalde will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pettus, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Refugio at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026.
